Overview

The MG 4X launched in China in May 2026. It is built on SAIC’s Nebula EV platform and is the first mainstream production car to offer a semi-solid-state battery at this price point.

Battery - the top-spec SolidCore variant uses a 53.9 kWh semi-solid-state cell pack developed by SAIC’s battery subsidiary SAIC Qingtao. Semi-solid cells combine higher energy density with improved thermal management compared to conventional lithium-ion. The standard range uses a 64.2 kWh LFP unit from CATL, which offers more range despite the smaller price premium.

Powertrain - single rear-mounted electric motor in two outputs: 168 hp or 201 hp.

Interior - 10.25-inch instrument display, 15.6-inch central screen, Oppo co-developed cockpit, L2+ ADAS on Smart trim.

Pricing in China starts at 99,800¥ ($14,700); launch pricing from 92,800¥ ($13,700). No European availability has been confirmed.
