The Lepas L6 is Chery’s mid-size SUV for markets outside China, sitting between the smaller L4 and the larger L8. It rides on the LEX platform, which Lepas says was created for the brand and is not shared with Chery or its other sub-brands. It is sold with a choice of two powertrains under one nameplate: a battery-electric L6 EV and a plug-in hybrid. The electric car measures 4,570 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 2,700 mm between the axles, and stands 1,683 mm tall in Thailand and 1,694 mm in Australia.
A single electric motor drives the front wheels, producing 160 kW (215 hp) and 275 Nm of torque, and the Thai car is quoted at 7.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. The lithium iron phosphate battery is 65 kWh, giving 510 km of range on the Chinese NEDC cycle in Thailand, 440 km on WLTP in Australia, and 449 km (279 miles) on WLTP in the UK. DC fast charging tops out at 120 kW, enough for a 30-80 percent top-up in about 22 minutes.
The plug-in hybrid L6 sits alongside it under the same nameplate, on a body 18 mm shorter at 4,552 mm. A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine works with an electric motor through a dedicated hybrid transmission for a combined 279 PS (275 hp) and 365 Nm. An 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery drives the front wheels, with a quoted 0-100 km/h time of 8.7 seconds and combined fuel consumption of 4.99 L/100 km.
The cabin runs a 13.2-inch portrait touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, a 50 W wireless phone charger and a panoramic sunroof. The Thai car gets an 18-speaker Sony sound system; the Australian car’s Sony system has eight speakers.
Lepas premiered the L6 EV in Bangkok in March 2026 and launched it in Thailand in July 2026, imported from China in two trims: Comfort at 769,900 baht (~$22,900) and Premium at 829,900 baht (~$24,700). Thai cars use a 65.05 kWh battery. The Lepas brand is confirmed for Malaysia, where it has signed 20 dealer partners.
In Australia, Lepas opened orders for a single L6 BEV Signature grade at A$47,990 (~$34,300) before on-road costs, with first customer deliveries in November 2026. The price includes premium paint under an introductory offer. The Australian car has the same 160 kW and 275 Nm front motor, a 65 kWh battery rated at 440 km on WLTP, and DC charging of up to 120 kW for 30-80 percent in about 22 minutes. Boot space is 323 litres, or 1,255 litres with the rear seats folded. Lepas gives a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and eight years or 200,000 km on the battery. A plug-in hybrid L6 is expected in 2027, with no Australian price announced.
