From 7 July 2026, every new car and van registered in the EU must carry a camera-based system that tracks the driver's gaze and warns them when they look away from the road for too long. New model types have had it since 2024. This deadline catches the older models still in production.
Škoda has fully revealed the Peaq, its largest model and electric flagship. Built on VW's MEB platform, it offers three variants from 204 to 300 hp and up to 647 km WLTP. From €49,900 (~$54,000) in Germany.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa announced the E-Car programme - a family of electric vehicles under 4.2 metres, priced from €15,000, built to the EU's proposed M1E simplified safety standard. Three brands (Fiat, Citroën, Opel), one plant (Pomigliano d'Arco, Italy), production from 2028. The Dacia Hipster concept is the design reference for what M1E vehicles could look like.
