Porsche lists wireless charging as a new option for the Cayenne Electric. The driver parks over a pad and charging begins automatically, with no cable to plug in. Porsche announced it with the Cayenne Electric model-year update on 16 September 2026, and it is now orderable in Germany and other European markets.
How the system works
The system has three components: preparation for the required hardware on the vehicle, a vehicle pad on the underside of the car, and a ground pad in the parking space. Porsche says the ground pad is weatherproof and can be installed outdoors. Energy crosses the air gap between the two pads, so the car has to sit over the ground pad; Porsche’s own explainer video, published on 21 October, covers how the car is guided into position.
Safety is handled by motion sensors and foreign object detection. Charging stops automatically if a living creature comes close to the car or the ground pad, or if a metal object on the pad heats up.
What the 11 kW figure covers
Porsche says energy is transferred at up to 11 kW with about 90 percent efficiency. Both are the maker’s claims. Porsche’s text does not say whether the 11 kW is measured at the pad or at the battery, and it gives no charging time, so none can be derived from it. Porsche pitches the system as home charging, and the Cayenne Coupe Electric page carries the DC fast-charging figures.
Availability
All components can be ordered now in Germany and other European markets. Porsche is rolling the system out worldwide in stages, with an offer planned in all countries with Porsche Connect, and it is not available in China. Porsche has published no price for the option and no date for the US.
