Jaecoo and Omoda to Be Assembled in Kazakhstan from Q3 2026

Chery's Jaecoo and Omoda sub-brands will be assembled locally in Kazakhstan from Q3 2026, at the AMMKZ plant in Almaty. Jaecoo J5 and J7 PHEV are first; Omoda C5 and C7 follow. Astana Motors replaces Aster as the official distributor for both brands.

Chery’s Jaecoo and Omoda sub-brands will have locally assembled cars in Kazakhstan from Q3 2026. The plant is AMMKZ in Almaty. Astana Motors has already replaced Aster as the official distributor for both brands.

Jaecoo (launching first):

  • J5: FWD, 1.5T + CVT — first on the production line
  • J7 PHEV: 1.5T + 204 hp front electric motor — to follow

Omoda (production start date not announced):

  • C5: 4,400 mm, 2,630 mm wheelbase · 1.5L atmo or 1.5T + CVT · from 10.5–12.5M tenge (~$22,000–$26,000)
  • C7: 4,660 mm, 2,720 mm wheelbase · 1.6T + 7-speed DCT · from 11–13M tenge (~$23,000–$27,000)
