The Nissan Altima is a midsize sedan sold in the United States. For 2026 its lineup was cut from four trims to two, SV and SR, as Nissan repositions a redesigned Sentra as the main sedan in its US range following the earlier discontinuation of the Versa and Maxima.
Both trims run a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder through a continuously variable transmission: 188 hp and 180 lb-ft front-wheel drive, or 182 hp and 178 lb-ft with the optional all-wheel-drive system, which adds $1,400. Destination-included pricing runs from $28,825 for the SV to $31,725 for an SR with all-wheel drive. SR adds sportier styling, larger wheels and extra equipment over SV for about $1,500.
Mid-2026 reports said Nissan would end the Altima after the 2026 model year, framing the move as part of a broader sedan-lineup consolidation. Nissan pushed back, saying the Altima “remains an important part of our lineup” and confirming a 2027 model year is coming later in the year, without saying how long the nameplate continues after that.
