The A2 e-tron is Audi’s entry point into electric cars, a compact five-door on Volkswagen Group’s MEB architecture, revealed in September 2026 with orders opening on the 10th and deliveries from December. Audi revived a name last used in 2005 on a car that has nothing structurally in common with it: the first A2 was an aluminium space frame under 3.83 metres long, this one is a steel-bodied electric hatchback built on the same toolkit as the Volkswagen ID. Polo and the Cupra Raval. Audi has not stated which iteration of MEB it uses.
Four versions, three batteries, rear-wheel drive. The range runs 125, 140, 170 and 240 kW, which is 170 to 326 PS or 168 to 322 hp, and every version drives the rear axle. The two lower outputs use liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate packs of 52 and 61 kWh gross in a cell-to-pack construction; the 170 and 240 kW cars share an 84 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt pack. WLTP range is 423 km, 515 km, 646 km and 630 km in that order, so the long-range version is the 170 kW rather than the most powerful car. The 240 kW makes 545 Nm and reaches 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
Charging and efficiency. The LFP packs take up to 100 and 105 kW on a DC charger and the NMC pack up to 183 kW, with 10 to 80% quoted at 24 to 29 minutes. Consumption runs from 12.8 to 14.2 kWh per 100 km, the low end belonging to the 140 kW efficiency-package car that Audi calls the most efficient it has built. Drag coefficient is 0.24, with air curtains, panel gap covers and a cooling intake that stays shut in normal driving worth about 0.9 kWh/100 km on their own. Charging efficiency at a wallbox is quoted at 89.6%, and the car supports vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-home.
Cabin and equipment. An 11.9-inch instrument display and a 12.8-inch touchscreen come with an Audi AI voice assistant, and the options list adds a head-up display, matrix LED headlights and a 14-speaker Sonos system. Audi connected work handles Outlook and Teams by voice, reading messages aloud and joining scheduled meetings from the car.
Size, price and production. The body measures 4,320 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,550 mm tall on a 2,770 mm wheelbase, with a 396-litre boot that opens to 1,336 litres with the rear seats folded. German prices run from €38,200 (about $41,600) to €51,200 (about $55,800). Production is at Audi’s main plant in Ingolstadt from autumn 2026, on the same site as the A3, the Q6 e-tron and the A6 e-tron.
