FangChengBao - which translates literally as “Formula Leopard” - is a China-only premium brand under BYD, launched in August 2023. It sits in BYD’s brand hierarchy between Denza and the ultra-premium Yangwang, targeting the performance and off-road segments.
The lineup is split into two distinct series. The Bao series comprises body-on-frame off-roaders built on BYD’s proprietary DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) platform, with PHEV powertrains optimized for demanding terrain. The Tai series takes a different approach - unibody crossovers aimed at family buyers, offering both PHEV and BEV options alongside a more refined, road-focused character.
Across both lines, FangChengBao leans heavily into technology: models feature advanced driver assistance systems, in some cases developed in partnership with Huawei, alongside BYD’s latest battery and hybrid hardware. All vehicles are sold exclusively through domestic Chinese channels.
